Fixed Penalty Notices

Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) are just one of the tools that can be used to tackle environmental crime. FPNs may be offered when the Council has evidence that an offence has been committed and provide an alternative to prosecution and going to court. They may not be offered for every offence as a prosecution may be the more appropriate option.

Payment of a FPN means that no further action will be taken for that particular offence. If payment is made within 10 days, then the fee will be set at a reduced amount. Failure to pay the full amount within the 14 days is likely to result in the matter being taken to magistrates court and prosecuted.

Make a Payment

By telephone

On 01462 474000 to Licensing and Enforcement (during normal working hours), with your card details and quoting the FPN Ref. No. Payment will be accepted with the following credit and debit cards - Visa, Mastercard, Switch, Solo and Visa Delta.

In person

At the Council Offices, Gernon Road, Letchworth, SG6 3JF, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

By post

Payment can be made by post by either Cheque or Postal Order and sent to Enforcement, North Hertfordshire District Council, Council Offices, Gernon Road, Letchworth, SG6 3JF. Payment made in this way will be regarded as having been made at the time at which the letter would be delivered in the ordinary post.
